Southern Trip Day 1

Day 1 Southern Trip

So the Wanderin’ Watson’s are at it again!  We left home today and headed south.  We decided that rather than drive the ‘usual boring’ way south along the Bruce Highway and through Warwick, we would go the picturesque way, via Kilcoy, Esk (or as they call it PictureESK), Toowoomba, a bunch of small towns that I cant remember the names of, Texas and on to Inverell.

When we arrived in Inverell we couldn’t believe how beautiful the deciduous trees are down here!  You really get a sense of it being Autumn with all the stunning reds and oranges of the leaves.

We are staying at Copeton Dam tonight – and let me tell you it is PACKED here, well not really – we are ‘bush camping’ which basically means we can camp anywhere along 30 kms + of waterfront.  We could have had a powered site up with all the plebs, but as you know we are way too cool for that ;).  Actually our camper would have been ashamed to be at a powered site given it is built for ‘roughing it’.

We were thinking of heading off from here tomorrow but have decided to stay another night so we can go for a fish and hopefully pull a cod or 10 from the Dam, and go exploring around this beautiful boulder country. You can also go fossicking around here so who knows what we might find…..

Until tomorrow

The Wanderin Watsons.

P.S Internet dodgy here so will post pics tomorrow.
